It was your typical game of pretend, "restaurant"... or so I thought!
Shiloh, who is almost 3, was the waitress taking my order. I was presented with a variety of menu options, from cake and tea, to pizza with a coke-no ice (a staple of mine).
Then, it happened.
I was faced with the decision between two items on this restaurants menu, that I had never had the choice of before. In fact, it's pretty safe to say I will never be given this choice in the real world, ever again.
As my toddler casually scribbled on her notepad, she asked, "Do you want Ballerinas or Boys?".
Ummmmm... DILEMA!!!
I'd never really thought about it until that very moment.Which would be better? I mean, Ballerinas would be so entertaining and simply, lovely!
But, what about Boys? I really could use a few extra helping hands around the house to tote this and lift that. Decisions! Decisions!
I finally settled on Ballerinas.
Although, before I could make my choice, the waitress piped in rather impatiently,
"How about Boys!"
Ok, Boys it was.
She swiftly turned to leave and retrieve my order, but stopped in her tracks. Extremely dismayed she announced, "I don't have any more Boys left".
I can only hope that will continue to be true, well into her Twenties.

Snow in October?!
It's snow. Enough said.
In our neck of the woods, it snows. A lot.
It also gets cold. Very cold.
The weather has been flirting with the idea of snow on and off for a few weeks. Today was the first morning that it snowed and it stayed.
I love snow and how it makes the otherwise barren-looking scenery, feel magical. However, I do not love the cold weather that usually accompanies, said snow.
Ugh, the never-ending mounds of hats, gloves, coats, snow pants and boots... x4!!!
My little snow bunny
Alas, with 4 kids, I am forced to bear it and grin, rather exaggeratedly may I add. So, with such excitement unleashed from my 2 yr old about the first real snowfall of the year, I made the trek outside. And you know what I realized? After about 5 minutes of shivering and losing sensation in my fingertips, seeing the look on her face as she ran up and down the backyard, made it totally worth it.
Isn't that why we mom's do most everything and anything for our kids? We will put ourselves through the worst, most uncomfortable situations to catch the never-ending wonder in their eyes .
To listen to them squeal and joyously laugh while stomping through puddles.
To witness them learn something they couldn't do the year before and hear them say, "Look Mom! I can ride without training wheels!"
To see them run in the snow, exclaiming, "Mommy! I making tracks wif my Dora boots!"
So, it was a little cold for my liking.
But, I love my little punkin' even more.
Nothing like cookies and warm
milk after a snow romp

Justin Beiber?
My oldest is in grade 2, but lately it feels more like he's in high school.
I fondly remember last year when his social activity consisted of games of tag, Toy Story themed birthday parties and conversations about SpongeBob.
Now, here are just some of the conversations I've had with him in the last month and a half of school:
-"Mom! A girl in my class has a crush on me!" (running out of school, yelling at top of his lungs)
He then proceeds to walk right up to said girl, and asks, "Don't you have a crush on me?"
-"Mom, my friend at school stuck his lunchbox up his shirt and pretended he was pregnant! Isn't that so funny?"
-"Dear boy, do you even know what pregnant means?"
-"No, but it was hilarious!"
-"Mom, you know Justin Beiber? Well, I heard him and his girlfriend just broke up!"
-"Dear son, I don't think you need to be talking to your friends about boyfriends and girlfriends in grade 2"
-"Yeah, but it's true. I think his girlfriend was Lady Gaga."
My daughter just started SK.
Should I be worried?!

Motherhood & Style?
I am a style junkie.
I love to peruse all types of design magazines from home to beauty and fashion.
Trying to weave that into the intricacies of being a mom of 4, is another story.
For a while, I opted out, of keeping up with any trends whatsoever. The extent of my fashion statements was sporting any style, spit-up free. Now, that I get more than 3 hours a night sleep, I am back with a vengeance.
Although, when I look back at those months of sleepless nights, wondering how I'd make it through an entire day, I realize something.
Even while sporting my well-worn track pants and uniform hair in a ponytail, I usually mustered just enough energy to dab on some lip gloss.
'Cause I'm fancy like that.
Once a style junkie, always a style junkie.

Yes, I applied lip gloss, 12 hrs after having a baby. Doesn't every mom? |
Lip gloss always looks better paired with a cute dress. |
